Oi. It’s been a minute, hasn’t it?
A busy / stressful bit at work + my inability to take time off + doing wedding planning stuff during the time I usually spend writing blog posts = a lot of radio silence, it turns out…
I always tell people cooking is my creative outlet outside work – which is true – but it’s more than that too. I spend a lot of my day wondering what other people are thinking about me, what they’re thinking about each other, trying to get everyone to get along…
I’ve been meaning to write this post forever, because I sort of feel like I’m lying to y’all otherwise. Being all “yeah the low FODMAP diet cured me!” when that’s only part of it. While I wish I didn’t have to take any medications for my IBS symptoms…
WTF are FODMAPs?!
FODMAPs are fermentable carbohydrates — AKA a part of some foods (like apples, wheat, and beans) that ferment in the gut, causing stomach pain and bloating. If you’ve been diagnosed with IBS or just feel miserable every time you eat, the low FODMAP diet might be for you!
Looking for recipes?
All the recipes that I create are suitable for anyone following the low FODMAP diet or looking to ease digestive discomfort. They’re also healthy and delicious!
The kitchen is my happy place. It’s where I go to de-stress, it’s my creative outlet outside of work. So when I started following the low FODMAP diet in 2014, I took the lengthy list of “foods to avoid” as a challenge to keep making awesomely delicious food (that made me feel awesome too). This blog is a place for me to share my thoughts, experiments, and what I’ve leaned over the past few years. Welcome!
